WHAT'S HAPPENING?
WEEK 8

FROM THE DEPUTY PRINCIPAL

It has been a busy week of learning across the school. Students are diligently finishing their end of semester assessment to ensure they are achieving at their best. This includes our year 9 and 10 Cert II in Construction students who have been actively engaged in their final competencies for Brick and Block.

The Arts team have been focused on making, creating and performing in preparation for Showcase next week. They are looking and sounding amazing! Be sure to get your tickets to the show.

The next two weeks will be eventful with a number of ASPIRE programs, Vocational Education courses and Year 10 Road Ready.

Information about these programs will be shared with relevant year levels and families. It is wonderful to have so many community programs running to support our students grow as young people.

We wish our qualifiers for the ACT Cross Country Championships the best of luck on Wednesday 15 June.  We eagerly await the results and will update you with these next week.

Unfortunately due to ground closures, the Boys Rugby Union 7’s competition last week was postponed. We will keep you updated with further details as we receive them.

The Girls Rugby League 9’s has also been postponed to next term and we look forward to the opportunity for more training sessions and an increase in students interested in playing.

POSITIVE BEHAVIOURS FOR LEARNING

INTRODUCING POSITIVE BEHAVIOURS FOR LEARNING
As outlined last week, PBL is a framework that involves the participation of the entire school community to encourage positive behaviours and better learning outcomes for students. As discussed, we will be starting PBL in the corridors of the school first and introducing expectations stated in positive language such as:
  • Kind language - Kind volume
  • Move peacefully - Move purposefully
  • Right place - Right time
  • Shared spaces - Shared responsibility
The PBL team has come together and devised a timeframe for how the school will be implementing this. The current plan is:
  • Week 8  - Introduce corridor expectations with a video in tutor groups and posters around the school.
  • Week 9 - Introduce the PBL tokens as part of the reward initiative.
  • Term 3 – support all students to adopt behaviours aligned with the new expectations.
Please contact the school if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions.
