There will be guest speakers with the focus of the evening on:

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
The year 10 students have begun their final year of High School and as their Year Adviser, I am pleased with the manner in which most have committed to their studies. I feel it is appropriate, however, to reiterate the requirements needed to attain a successful Year 10 Certificate. Please refer to 'Certificate Requirements'.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to contact me with any concerns you have regarding your child. My role as a Year Adviser is not only to monitor your child’s attendance and academic progress, but also their social development. Bullying and harassment are issues of concern across all schools. At Calwell High School we have a zero tolerance for bullying and harassment and often find early intervention difficult if students do not inform us of any problems they are encountering. If your child should experience a problem please encourage them to talk to their teachers.
Year 10 is not only an important academic year, but also the year to assist your child in preparing for the future. Students should view this year as one of transition, to either further education, or the workforce. They can use the remainder of their time at High School to concentrate on improving organisational skills, time management skills and improving their work ethic.

Dress Code
The school colour code is as follows: white or black tops, black or navy (denim) bottoms and black or navy jumpers/jackets. All tops should have sleeves and must cover midriffs. Any clothing with offensive language, rude undertones or insinuations, and large slogans is not acceptable. For Occupational Health and Safety reasons, covered footwear should be worn at all times.
Students are encouraged to purchase school polo shirts which come in red (for PE classes), black and white. These are of excellent quality and can be obtained from the front office for $20 each. In addition, school polar fleece jumpers are available for $25 each.
Equipment
Please ensure that your child comes to school with all necessary equipment. This includes separate books for each subject, as well as stationery.
School Jersey
Calwell High is committed to offering students opportunities to build school spirit and pride. The rugby jersey top is an optional, non-compulsory extra curricula activity that the school is offering to Year 10 students but will serve as an excellent and worthwhile keepsake of their memories at Calwell High School. Students choosing to purchase the top will be allowed to wear it at school, as it does meet the requirements set out in the School’s Dress Code Policy.
Students were given the opportunity to purchase a Year 10 Jersey at the end of 2007. These Jerseys will hopefully be ready in Wk 6 of this term.
Students will also have the option of buying a Year 10 Hooded Jumper. During Term One, a competition will be run to decide on the print design, and orders will be taken at the end of Term One, for delivery during Term Two (in time for winter).
