Download the complete student booklet here.
The purpose of Exhibitions is to allow students to complete a diverse set of tasks aimed at improving self-confidence, cooperative skills, knowledge and understandings about themselves and the world around them. At the end of Term 3, students will present their learning journey to a Roundtable panel.
How will it operate?
Students will complete a unit of work in each of their subjects linked to the theme ‘It’s Not All About Me’. This work will be displayed in a portfolio along with a reflective journal and the student’s individual negotiated assignment. Preparation for the Roundtable will occur in ‘Taking Charge’ lesson time and be completed at home. Student information is also available on MyClasses.
Exhibitions Roundtables will be held from Monday 24th September 2007 and Friday 28th September 2007 in the Library between the hours of 9am-3pm.
Assessment
Assessment is based on the process and demonstration of the student’s learning at Roundtable.
Reflective Journal
An important component of the work is their reflective journal where they reflect on the processes and progress of their learning throughout the term.
Portfolio
Students need to complete their Exhibitions work for each subject area and compile this work in their portfolio. Students will identify their skills as a researcher, active and reflective learner. Other inclusions will be a title page, contents page, and an introductory letter. They will summarize their learning from each subject and their reflections.
Individual Negotiated Assignment
Students will take one part of their learning and a direction of their own choice. They will be able to link their assignment to their learning and explain how this learning inspired them to take this learning further.
Roundtable
Each student will present their portfolio, journal and Individual Negotiated Assignment at their Exhibitions Roundtable to a panel including the student’s parent/s or carer/s, a teacher, a Year 9 friend, a Year 8 student and a community representative. The student will present their work to this panel, describing and reflecting on their learning and be able to answer questions from the panel. The panel will provide the student with immediate feedback. The Roundtable is designed to value and support the student's achievements, give them an opportunity as a presenter and to identify direction for their learning in the future.
