QUEST
The Quest Leadership Program is a personal development program where Year 10 students act as leaders of small groups of Year 7 students during Year 10 students' SOSE class . The leaders run weekly workshops with the Year 7 students on issues such as bullying, making good decisions, friendship etc. The workshop time also enables the Year 7 students to discuss any problems they may be having in their transition to high school. Year 10 leaders plan their weekly workshops, evaluate them, discuss strategies for running workshops and investigate alternative group activities. Past student leaders have commented on the fact that this job is not as easy as it sounds and that it does involve a lot of hard work, commitment, team work and resilience.
To gain a place as a Quest leader you must:
- Have successfully completed the Peer Support training in Term 2
- Apply in writing for the position of Quest Leader at the end of the training
Teachers, the Quest Co-ordinator and Principal will select the Year 10 leaders from among those applicants who have demonstrated a mature and responsible involvement in the corporate life of the school.
