Special Programs

Calwell High School offers a range of programs not necessarily found in other schools and it has developed an enviable reputation as a result of the success of these programs.

Students will use E-learning and Web Quest course, which will be Internet based domains. A key tool in the delivery of the program will be the MyClasses domain. The course will be an elective based, ranging from Years seven to ten.

In the Arts, Calwell High School offers well established and innovative Band and Dance Programs that operate as classes on the school timetable. The Dance Program includes guest tutors and caters equally for boys and girls from years 7 - 10. Our Rock Eisteddfod participation and success over the last 7 years is indeed impressive and testament to the success of the dance program!

Calwell has also been a leader in the area of Peer Support and the Quest Program. The Quest Program educates and assists students to cope with the many changes that occur during adolescence - especially helping students adjust to high school. A selected and trained group of Year 10 students guide the Year 7 students through the program with the assistance of the classroom teacher.

Australian Business Week is an important real life program that teaches students about the world of business. Originally a Year 10 program, Calwell was the first Canberra high school to introduce the program to Year 7 students in 2004.
