Student Behaviour
Our three rules, developed by students, are:
Learning Safety Respect
Student management at Calwell High School aims to assist all students to coexist in harmony with other members of their community. Certain expectations are required of all students if quality learning with minimum disruption is to take place.
These expectations are outlined in the "Calwell High School Student Agreement" slip that we ask parents and students to sign in recognition of their support for our Student Behaviour and Management Policy.
A Restorative Approach to Student Management:
- Firm but fair, appropriate teacher / student relationships based on mutual respect.
- High levels of support (encouragement, nurturing) and high levels of control (limit-setting, discipline).
- Students taking responsibility for their own actions and understanding the impact of their actions on others.
- Students, teachers and parents working in a partnership.
Behaviour management follows a four-step structure ranging from classroom warnings and negotiations to internal/external suspensions. Please contact the Executive Teacher in charge of Student Services on 6205 6825 if you require further information.
