Mobile Phones and Portable Electronic Goods

At Calwell High School we believe we make reasonable rules governing what students may or may not bring to school. We have found that the use of mobile phones, portable music/game players and other electronic devices in class to be disruptive to the learning environment of all students and cause disruption to the smooth running of the school.

Whilst we would prefer students not to bring mobile phones to school, we are aware that some parents need to be able to contact students in certain circumstances. In view of this, we permit students to bring mobile phones to school if:

Mobile phones are switched off and out of sight during classes and in corridors during class change over times.

Other electronic devices such as music players must not be used during classes and in corridors.

We wish to advise parents and carers that the school does not accept liability for the loss, theft or damage to such items.

We do not encourage students to bring jewellery or large sums of cash to school and will not accept loss, theft or damage to such items.
